ProRep Tortoise Life is a natural substrate developed for tortoises from arid habitats, particularly Mediterranean and Russian (Horsfield's) tortoises. The blend provides a mix of texture and moisture retention designed to replicate the type of soil found in their natural environment.
Pure limestone is included in the mix, providing an additional source of calcium if small amounts of substrate are accidentally eaten. The natural texture also allows tortoises to dig and burrow, and the substrate is suitable for a range of arid-dwelling lizards too.

Directions for Use
Spread ProRep Tortoise Life evenly over the bottom of the enclosure to a depth of at least 5cm (2 inches) for young tortoises. For mature animals, a depth of 15cm (6 inches) or more can be used where space allows.
Russian (Horsfield's) tortoises in particular are keen burrowers, so a deeper layer is recommended to give them plenty of opportunity to dig.
Spot-clean daily, removing waste and soiled substrate as required. The substrate should normally be replaced completely every 2–3 weeks. Areas can be lightly sprayed when some localised humidity is required, but avoid making the substrate excessively wet.
