We mix this with sand and sieved topsoil and it's great. Doesn't contain the little mineral/ calcium pebbles the other 'tortoise' substrate by the same company contains, which I wouldn't trust our tortoise not to eat, so this is much safer. It holds a little humidity, just enough to make the enclosure not too dusty in between spraying.

I'm buying two of these for my budgies (size medium) they're a great size foe sprouted seeds and chopped fruit and veg, I did have two from my local pet store, broke one, and they don't stock them anymore, so I'm here ordering.
