Explore reptile setupsA humid hide, regular misting and a constantly wet enclosure are different conditions and are not interchangeable.
Humidity equipment should work with suitable ventilation and drainage. Avoid stagnant, waterlogged conditions. If surfaces stay wet or mould develops, your animals setup may need review.
Position sensors as the manufacturer directs, away from direct spray where required. Compare readings at relevant times in the daily cycle, noting how temperature changes affect humidity.
Clean reservoirs, nozzles, tubing and accessible water features according to the instructions. Misting and fogging do not mean drinking-water is not needed.
A misting system sprays droplets onto enclosure surfaces; a fogger produces finer airborne droplets. They affect a habitat differently, so choose based on your species natural habitat and the enclosure’s ventilation.
There is no universal target. Use a care guide for the exact species and consider how temperature and humidity will change throughout the day and night. Check actual readings before increasing misting or fogging.
Follow the equipment instructions and the animal’s requirements, monitor conditions and make sure the enclosure retains appropriate airflow and opportunities to dry where needed.
