I'm gifted (I think 🤣) to have a complete nut job of a bearded dragon, I think she has a personality disorder, or was a croc monitor in a previous life. She is certainly not the typical docile, coach potato beardie.... She is super active, inquisitive and keeps me on my toes as far as enrichment etc is concerned. However she has a fab appetite and will eat anything and everything..
I leave the zoo med gourmet food, in small amounts hidden in different places of her enclosure. She enjoys looking for it and eats it readily. I will add that this is by no means her staple diet, she has a exceptional diet, but as this is dried food - I am able to hide it in unexpected places without the fear of the food spoiling if she doesn't find it immediately.
I would have prefered it if Zoo meds added BSF instead of the mealworms - but we cant have it all and this has a moderate price tag.
If your looking for an attractive ornamental top layer of leaf litter to set off the look of your bioactive enclosure this wont be for you, but if you are looking for a additive for your diy bioactive substrate buy the 2.5kg pack, they aren't joking when they say this is compact - it is a HEAVY hefty brick of shredded leaf litter, fantastic value for money, perfect to adding to substrates, using as a good covering on top of the substrate - then just add your decorative pieces over the top.
This also works great with isopods and millipedes etc etc etc, endless uses really, easy to store, and the cheapest option - other than harvesting your own leaves and sterilising them.
