Understanding Snake Mites
Ophionyssus natricis is the primary species of mite known to infest captive reptiles of the order Squamata, particularly snakes. Heavy infestations may contribute to stress, irritation, poor shedding, reduced condition and, in severe cases, more serious health complications.
Snake mites are also recognised as important vectors for reptile-associated diseases, making effective parasite control an important part of responsible reptile husbandry and quarantine management.
Single-Dose Oral Administration
Absolute Repti-VET Snake Mite Gone+ is administered indirectly through a thawed prey item, reducing handling stress and making treatment easier for both keepers and snakes.
The active ingredient is distributed throughout the snake’s body after ingestion and remains active within the bloodstream and tissues for approximately 30 days.
Directions For Use
- Defrost the intended prey item fully.
- Accurately weigh the snake before dosing.
- Shake the glass vial thoroughly for approximately 30 seconds.
- Using the supplied syringe and needle, draw the correct dosage from the vial.
- Inject the measured solution into the thawed prey item.
- Feed the treated prey item to the snake.

Small Snake Stock Solution
For smaller snakes, a diluted stock solution can be prepared:
- Add 0.1cc (0.1ml) of SMG to 1.90cc (1.90ml) of clean water.
- Shake thoroughly before use.
- Administer 0.1cc (0.1ml) of the diluted solution per 50g of snake body weight.
- Discard any unused stock solution after preparation.
Important Husbandry Notes
Cloverleaf Absolute Repti-VET Snake Mite Gone+ is excreted naturally through the snake’s skin. To help prevent environmental buildup of the active ingredient:
- Change and clean water bowls daily
- Remove faeces promptly
- Maintain good enclosure hygiene throughout treatment
Important Information
- Do not inject directly into the snake.
- Do not retreat within 28 days of administration.
- Always weigh snakes accurately before dosing.
