ProRep Basking Spot Lamp Is Now the Basking Flood Lamp
ProRep has updated the ES screw-fit version of its popular Basking Spot Lamp. It will now be called the Basking Flood Lamp, reflecting an improvement to the way it distributes heat.
What has changed?
Feedback from reptile keepers showed that the previous ES Basking Spot Lamp did not always create the broad, consistent basking zone they wanted.
The new Basking Flood Lamp uses the proven design of ProRep’s existing Flood Spot Lamp to produce a smoother, more even spread of heat across the basking area. This helps reptiles warm their bodies more evenly than under a smaller, concentrated hot spot.
The change has been made directly in response to feedback from the reptile-keeping community.
Is this a completely different lamp?
The Basking Flood Lamp is the new and improved replacement for the ES Basking Spot Lamp. Although the name and performance have been updated, it remains the direct replacement for the previous lamp.
ProRep’s separate ES Flood Spot Lamp will be discontinued once existing stocks have sold, as its heat-distribution benefits are now incorporated into the new Basking Flood Lamp.
If you previously purchased either an ES Basking Spot Lamp or an ES Flood Spot Lamp, the new ES Basking Flood Lamp is the appropriate replacement.
Does the change affect bayonet-fit lamps?
No. This update applies only to ES screw-fit lamps.
The bayonet-fit version of the Basking Spot Lamp has not changed and will continue to be available as normal. ProRep will communicate separately if this version is updated in the future.
Are there any other changes?
ProRep has also introduced convenient two-packs in each wattage. Keeping a spare bulb available means you can quickly restore your reptile’s basking area if the fitted lamp reaches the end of its working life.
In summary
The ProRep Basking Flood Lamp is not a reduction in choice or simply a packaging change. It is an improved version of the ES Basking Spot Lamp, combining its familiar purpose with the wider, more consistent heat distribution of the former Flood Spot Lamp.
For reptile keepers, that means a more even and effective basking zone in one straightforward replacement lamp.
